how to become an ordained minister in texas

Becoming an ordained minister online...

Has anyone here done one of the online courses to get ordained and serve as an officiant for a wedding here in Texas?

If you have, what site did you use?
Is there anything specific I should know before doing this?

We have a family member who had their officiant cancel on them (I assume for COVID related reasons).

The wedding is 8/1.

TIA

I did the Universal Life Church online deal. No classes. Pay the fee, get the credentials. Gonna do the ceremony for a friend this fall, and most likely for my wife's kid next fall.

Sounds prestigious.

Online ministry degrees rarely are.

I too did mine there a year ago. Since then I've married 3 different couples in Texas.

That is also why I carry the title of Archbishop

Ol Army 01 Post Boobs

My brother did one of them in order to officiate for a friend of his a few years ago. I can ask him where he did it if I need to

If Joey can get one, how hard can it be?

I did Universal Life as well- I dont remember the timing or lead time to get it done, but it was pretty easy.

I wrote the ceremony myself, and worked in all the cliche wedding stuff but got some Jerry Jeff lyrics and Stevie Ray "poetry" in there. I was really dreading it but I did it as a favor for my old Aggie roommate, and ended having a great time. It was of the best weddings I'd ever been to..... if I do say so myself

Universal Life minister here as well.

Made a cup of coffee; filled out form; finished form well before my cup of coffee.

Officiated my brother's wedding. Good times.

"...and now, by the powers vested in my by the Universal Life Church.com; I pronounce you man and wife."

Same

Youngest son is a Dudeist Priest. Officiated his older brother's wedding.

My little brother is ordained through the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Definitely a route to look into if you have a nice colander.

So basically anyone can do this via Universal Life Church?

Like our society nowadays, everyone gets an award

A link for you

I did this awhile back myself...

Back in the 80's, you could become an ordained minister by calling an add in the back of The Rolling Stone.

I got ordained thru Christian Global Outreach Ministries in April and performed wedding ceremony for my son and new daughter in law. Very easy

My step-daughter

I didn't get an award but a pretty bad assed stole.

I was asked to perform the wedding of a old student of mine that I have kept in touch with.

I called the elders of the church where I attend and asked what I needed to do.

About a week later, I got an email saying "You're ordained. Conduct the wedding."

That's it.

Now that you all know, I would appreciate you watching your mouths and putting some $ in the collection plate when it comes around.

If you pay Universal Life Church an extra $10 they throw in a Texas Tech Bachelor of Science degree.

Universal Life here, too. I even called the county clerk to verify it's OK, and she basically said "sure, we really don't much care" so I said "by the power vested in me by the State of Texas and Lubbock County".

I've done one so far and have two scheduled for this fall. The person who officiated my son's wedding went through UL as well.

The sanctity of marriage ??

Beer Baron was right all along !!

Every bit as married as going to the JP. You object to that too?

Friend of mines brother in law officiated their wedding. I was a groomsman. Two best lines were, "I told my co workers this weekend I was marrying my sister and got quite a few strange looks". "By the powers invested in me by the latter day dude church I now pronounce you man and wife"

Like this?

I did the same thing. But different states require something different, so be sure to check if performing a wedding else where.
